Location:

This article takes place in Osaka, Japan.

Decades ago, many people danced, acted, and took samurai classes as entertainment. Many famous poets, writers and artists came from Osaka. Today, many people in Osaka are interested in academic studies, and music. For entertainment, many people do normal things like us, such as going to the movies, and going shopping.

Story Line:

This article is about a Japanese Dating Club. Japanese men and women are very shy so it's hard for them to meet someone they can date. In Japan it's normal to avoid eye contact with anyone and avoid pubical display of affection. If a man looks at a woman he doesn't know and smiles, he could be considered a suspicious person and the woman might get up and move. These dating clubs are a place where no alcohol is served and the men and women are seperated by a large glass window. The man or woman makes eye contact with someone they would like to meet and they send a quick "love note," which gets delievered to the other person by a waitor. This helps shield from embarrassment because Japanese men are so afraid of being turned down. The men have to pay a fee to join these clubs, but they are so popular that many clubs have opened up all over Japan.

Quote:

"Japanese, perhaps unlike people in some other societies, don't have to be concerned about race, religion, and the socio-economic standard of others."

Anecdote:

-Japanese men and women have a history of going to extraordinary lengths to meet eachother.

-There are alot of new Japanese dating services, that are now using alot more technology.

-Men and women who join these dating clubs have to pay over $100 to get into them.

-If a man or woman find somebody that like, they would write a "love note" to them and a waitor will bring it to them.

-Alot of poeple in Japan are too shy to get into a relationship alone, and signs of public affection are very rare.
